Safety and Use Warnings

Please read this page carefully before using Stro.

Stro is a weighted posture-practice device designed for controlled use while sitting. Because Stro has weight, incorrect use, poor fit, unsafe positioning, dropping, swinging, detachment, damaged parts, worn straps, reduced strap grip, unsuitable use, or interference from other straps or weighted items may cause injury or property damage.

Correct fit is required for safe use. Please also read the Stro Fit & Use Guide before using Stro.

WARNING: Stro is a weighted product intended for seated use only. It must be correctly fitted and adjusted to your body before use. The strap must sit flat against your skin at the root/base of your neck, as low down on the neck as possible. The silicone/grip side of the strap must face your skin. The device must not sit above your collarbones. Wear Stro underneath a fitted top. Do not use Stro while bending over another person, caring for children, lifting heavy items, wearing bags or other straps, wearing other weighted items, moving around, or travelling in a moving vehicle. Start gradually. Stop if you feel pain, jaw discomfort, tooth pressure, dizziness, numbness, tingling, or unusual symptoms. Open the package carefully and away from children. Check the clips, straps, strap grip, fit, strap position, and device position before every use and during use.

Opening the package safely

Open the Stro package carefully.

Because Stro is a weighted product, take care when opening the package, especially if the package appears damaged, crushed, torn, loose, or opened during transit.

Open the package on a low, stable surface, such as a table or the floor. Do not open the package above a child, baby, pet, fragile surface, or any person.

Do not open the package while holding a baby or child, or while a child, baby, or pet is directly underneath or close to the package.

When opening the package, support the device so it cannot fall out unexpectedly.

If the package appears damaged, carefully inspect Stro, the clips, straps, sleeve, hinge, and attachment points before use. Package damage does not necessarily mean the product is damaged, but all parts should be checked before wearing.

Do not use Stro if the device, hinge, clips, straps, sleeve, or attachment points appear damaged, loose, insecure, worn, or faulty. Contact Stro support so the issue can be assessed and any damaged parts can be replaced if needed.

Intended use

Stro is intended to be worn while sitting in an upright, stable position.

Stro is not designed for active movement, exercise, childcare, driving, sleeping, lying down, lifting heavy items, wearing bags or other straps, wearing other weighted items, or tasks that require bending forward.

Stro should not be used to force your body into position. It is intended to support posture practice while seated, not to restrict movement or make you strain.

Hard points and impact risk

Stro is made from a weighted metal body. Some areas of the device may concentrate impact force if the device falls, swings, is dropped, or is thrown against a surface.

These points are not intended to cut the skin, but because Stro is weighted, impact from the device may cause injury, bruising, dents, marks, holes, or property damage.

Take extra care around people, children, babies, pets, walls, floors, furniture, tiles, laptops, phones, glass, and other fragile surfaces.

Do not throw, swing, drop, or play with Stro.

Do not use Stro if the metal body has become damaged, deformed, cracked, unusually sharp, or unsafe to touch.

Correct fit is required

Stro must be correctly fitted and adjusted to your body before use.

The strap must sit at the root/base of your neck, as low down on the neck as possible. The silicone/grip side of the strap must face your skin.

The device must be positioned correctly on your upper chest after the strap has been placed correctly. As a general guide, the top edge of the device should sit approximately 0–4 cm below your collarbones after the strap has been adjusted correctly.

The device must not sit above your collarbones. It may sit close to the collarbones if that is the correct fitted position for your body, but it should not sit above them.

If the strap length is adjusted so that the device sits too far down the chest, it may encourage an unsuitable posture where the chest sits too far forward. This may place unnecessary strain on the body and may increase the risk of discomfort or injury.

If the device sits too high, including above the collarbones, it may affect the wrong areas of the body and may cause pressure, discomfort, strain, or injury around the upper chest, neck, collarbone, throat, jaw, or face.

Different bodies may require slightly different adjustment. Stro may not fit every body type. If you cannot position Stro correctly for your body, stop using it and contact Stro support before continuing.

Stro may not be suitable for every body type, size, posture, or physical condition. If Stro cannot be fitted correctly, or if you continue to feel discomfort even with short sessions and correct positioning, do not continue using the device.

Strap position and grip

The silicone/grip side of the strap must face your skin.

The strap must sit directly against the skin at the root/base of your neck, as low down on the neck as possible. This contact point is part of how Stro is designed to work.

If the strap is reversed, twisted, folded, sitting over clothing, or not fully touching your skin, pause and adjust it before continuing.

Some upward movement or gliding of the strap may happen during use. This is expected, especially if you move, sweat, change position, or if the strap grip is reduced. When Stro is fitted correctly and you are sitting still, you should not need to adjust the strap too often.

If the strap repeatedly slides upward, moves too easily, or cannot stay near the root/base of your neck long enough for normal seated use, check whether it is wet, sweaty, dirty, oily, worn, incorrectly fitted, reversed, or no longer gripping properly. Dry, clean, and refit the strap if needed.

If your anatomy, clothing, strap fit, or device position makes it difficult to keep the strap at the root/base of your neck, contact Stro support for help with fit before continuing. If the strap cannot stay in the correct area at all, Stro may not be able to work properly for your body.

Strap wear and replacement

The strap is a consumable part and will wear out over time.

Inspect the strap before every use. Replace the strap when it shows signs of wear, damage, reduced grip, reduced stability, stretching, tearing, fraying, weakening, material separation, peeling, or when the silicone or grip layer has worn down or detached from the fabric.

Do not use the strap if the silicone or grip layer starts detaching from the fabric, if the strap no longer holds the device securely, or if any part of the strap appears damaged or unreliable.

Do not wait for the strap to fail before replacing it. If you are unsure whether the strap is still safe to use, stop using it and contact Stro support.

Size and weight suitability

Use only the size and weight that is suitable for your body, strength, posture, and current tolerance.

Do not choose a heavier weight to get faster results. More weight is not always better.

If the device feels too heavy, uncomfortable, unstable, difficult to control, or causes fatigue quickly, stop use and reduce the length of your sessions before trying again.

If the device creates strain, causes discomfort, affects your jaw or teeth, or makes you fatigue quickly, reduce your session length or use a lighter option if available.

Do not try to push through discomfort, fatigue, dizziness, pain, or strain.

If the weight continues to feel unsuitable even with very short sessions, stop using the device and contact Stro support.

Body adaptation, joints, and muscles

Stro may change how your body holds itself while seated. Your muscles, joints, jaw, neck, shoulders, chest, back, and posture habits may need time to adapt.

Start gradually. Do not increase your use time suddenly.

Using Stro should not hurt. Pain is not required for Stro to work.

If anything hurts, stop using Stro. Pain may mean that:

  • the weight is too heavy for you

  • the session is too long

  • the device is not fitted correctly

  • the strap is not positioned correctly

  • your body is not ready for that amount of use

  • Stro may not be suitable for your body

Do not push through pain, discomfort, joint irritation, muscle strain, dizziness, numbness, tingling, or unusual symptoms.

Stro should be introduced gradually, similar to how fitted orthotics, postural supports, or a new training routine are often introduced slowly rather than used for long periods straight away.

Jaw, teeth, tongue, and TMJ caution

Stro may influence how your jaw, tongue, neck, and upper body interact during seated posture practice.

Do not use Stro if it causes jaw pain, tooth pressure, tooth pain, facial pain, clicking, locking, or discomfort around the jaw joint.

If you have TMJ issues, jaw joint pain, jaw clicking, jaw locking, dental concerns, orthodontic treatment, bite issues, or a history of jaw pain, seek advice from a qualified health professional before using Stro.

Use extra caution with weight and session length if you are sensitive around the jaw, teeth, tongue, neck, or face. Too much weight or too much use too soon may place unnecessary strain on these areas.

Your tongue should rest comfortably against the upper palate without touching or pushing into the front teeth. If you cannot comfortably do this, take extra care and make a conscious effort to position your tongue correctly.

If your tongue does not comfortably fit on the upper palate without pressing against your front teeth, use extra caution. Stro may not be suitable for you, or you may need guidance from a qualified dental, orthodontic, myofunctional, or health professional before use.

Stop using Stro if you notice tooth pressure, jaw tension, tongue strain, bite changes, dental discomfort, or any unusual pressure in the mouth, jaw, or face.

Wear underneath a fitted top

Stro is intended to be worn underneath clothing.

For best and safest use, wear Stro underneath a fitted top that sits close to the chest and helps cover the device. Ideally, the top should cover the whole device or most of it.

A fitted top with an internal supportive layer, such as an inner crop-style layer or built-in support layer, may help keep Stro close to the body. The important point is that the clothing should hold the device close against the chest and reduce swinging.

Wearing Stro underneath a suitable fitted top may help reduce the chance of the device swinging forward if you lean. It may also reduce the speed and distance of a fall if the device detaches.

Do not wear Stro loosely over clothing in a way that allows it to swing freely.

Do not use with bags, backpacks, or other straps

Do not wear Stro while wearing a backpack, shoulder bag, crossbody bag, baby carrier, sling, harness, or any other strap around your neck, shoulders, chest, or upper body.

Do not wear Stro with any other weighted item attached to your body by a strap, including bags, equipment, carriers, or weighted accessories.

Stro is designed to be fitted and calibrated to your body in a specific position. Other straps or weighted items may interfere with Stro’s intended balance, strap position, device placement, grip, stability, and effect.

Using Stro with bags, backpacks, carriers, harnesses, or other strapped or weighted items may cause incorrect positioning, reduced control, slipping, pressure, strain, entanglement, impact, or injury.

Remove Stro before putting on or using bags, backpacks, carriers, harnesses, or other strapped or weighted items.

Check before every use

Before each use, check that:

  • the strap is positioned at the root/base of your neck

  • the strap is placed as low down on the neck as possible

  • the silicone/grip side of the strap is facing your skin

  • the strap is fully touching your skin

  • the strap is clean and dry enough to grip properly

  • the strap is not twisted, folded, bunched, worn, stretched, torn, slippery, or damaged

  • the device is positioned correctly for your body after the strap has been placed correctly

  • the strap length is adjusted correctly

  • the device is not sitting too low or too high

  • the device is not sitting above your collarbones

  • the device feels stable and controlled underneath your clothing

  • the weight feels manageable for the session length

  • both clips are securely attached

  • the attachment points are secure

  • the sleeve and stitching are intact

  • the device, hinge, clips, straps, sleeve, and attachment points do not show signs of damage, sharpness, cracking, loosening, unusual movement, wear, or failure

Do not use Stro if any part appears damaged, loose, insecure, incorrectly fitted, worn out, slippery, unstable, or faulty.

Check during use

During use, regularly check that:

  • the strap has not slid too far upward

  • the strap is still sitting at the root/base of your neck

  • the silicone/grip side of the strap is still against your skin

  • the device has not moved too low or too high

  • the device is not sitting above your collarbones

  • the strap is still gripping properly

  • the device still feels stable and controlled

  • you are sitting upright without straining or bracing

  • your jaw, teeth, tongue, neck, shoulders, back, muscles, and joints feel comfortable

If the strap or device has shifted, pause and adjust it before continuing.

Some strap movement is expected, but if the strap or device keeps shifting and cannot stay near the correct position during normal seated use, stop using Stro and contact Stro support for fit help.

Weighted product warning

Stro is a weighted product. If it falls, detaches, swings forward, or is dropped, it may cause injury or damage.

Take extra care when using Stro near other people, fragile items, hard surfaces, desks, laptops, phones, tiles, floors, walls, furniture, glass, or other surfaces that could be damaged by impact.

Do not use while bending over another person

Do not wear Stro while bending over another person, including an adult, child, baby, or pet.

Do not wear Stro while breastfeeding, bottle feeding, holding, carrying, changing, bathing, dressing, or caring for a baby or child.

If you need to lean forward, bend over, pick something up, or move close above another person, remove Stro first.

Do not use while lifting or carrying heavy items

Do not wear Stro while lifting, carrying, pulling, or moving heavy items.

This includes weights, boxes, bags, furniture, equipment, children, pets, or any item that requires effort, bracing, bending, twisting, or strain to lift or carry.

What feels “heavy” may vary depending on your strength and body size. As a general guide, do not use Stro while lifting or carrying anything heavier than a very light object, especially anything around 1–2 kg or more.

Remove Stro before lifting or carrying anything that could affect your balance, posture, breathing, or control.

Avoid swinging and impact risk

Do not use Stro in situations where the device may swing forward or hit your face, teeth, chin, chest, another person, or an object.

Do not use Stro while:

  • leaning forward

  • looking down for long periods

  • using your phone low in your lap

  • cooking

  • cleaning

  • exercising

  • running

  • jumping

  • climbing

  • cycling

  • driving

  • operating tools or machinery

  • lifting or carrying heavy items

  • wearing a bag, backpack, carrier, harness, or other straps

  • wearing other weighted items

  • caring for children or babies

If you need to lean forward briefly, remove Stro first.

Do not use in moving vehicles

Do not use Stro in a moving vehicle or moving transport setting, including a car, bus, train, bike, scooter, boat, or airplane.

Sudden braking, turbulence, impact, a crash, or unexpected movement may increase the risk of injury from a weighted device.

Start gradually

When first using Stro, start slowly and build up gradually.

During the first week, consider using Stro for only three short sessions, with rest days in between. You can choose any days, but the aim is to give your body time to adapt between sessions.

If you are unsure, start with around 5 minutes.

The aim is to finish each session before you get tired. If you feel fatigued, strained, dizzy, uncomfortable, sore, achy, or unwell, or if you have a fever, do not use Stro.

Increase use gradually only if the device feels comfortable, the weight feels manageable, the strap grips properly, the strap stays near the root/base of your neck, and you can maintain a relaxed, upright seated position.

Nothing should hurt for Stro to work. If you feel pain, pressure, jaw discomfort, tooth pressure, joint irritation, muscle strain, dizziness, numbness, tingling, or unusual symptoms, stop use and reduce the session length, check the fit, or contact Stro support before continuing.

Do not try to push through discomfort, fatigue, dizziness, pain, or strain.

Stop use if you feel discomfort

Stop using Stro immediately if you experience:

  • pain

  • pressure

  • dizziness

  • shortness of breath

  • numbness

  • tingling

  • bruising

  • skin irritation

  • jaw, tooth, tongue, neck, shoulder, back, chest, or joint discomfort

  • muscle strain

  • any unusual or concerning symptoms

If dizziness, discomfort, or unusual symptoms occur, remove Stro and rest.

Do not continue using Stro if dizziness is immediate, severe, repeated, or does not quickly resolve after removing the device. Seek advice from a qualified health professional before using Stro again if symptoms persist, return, or concern you.

If mild fatigue or light dizziness occurs after using Stro for too long, stop use, rest, and reduce your session length next time. Do not increase your use time until short sessions feel comfortable and controlled.

Adult use only

Stro is intended for adult use only.

Do not allow children to wear, handle, swing, pull, chew, or play with Stro, the strap, clips, sleeve, or packaging.

Keep Stro and all accessories out of reach of children when not in use.

Strap and entanglement warning

Do not sleep while wearing Stro.

Do not use Stro anywhere the strap could catch, tighten, twist, or become trapped.

Remove Stro immediately if the strap feels uncomfortable, restrictive, or unsafe.

Skin and hygiene

Use Stro on clean, dry skin.

Wash the sleeve regularly, especially after sweating or when dirty. Follow the care instructions provided with the sleeve.

Do not share an unwashed sleeve with another person.

Stop using Stro if you develop redness, itching, irritation, bruising, or discomfort.

Storage and transport

Store and transport Stro in a secure pouch, bag, or contained pocket so it cannot fall out, swing, or damage other items.

Do not leave Stro where it may fall from a height or be accessed by children or pets.

Do not use Stro if it has become very hot or cold, such as after being left in direct sunlight, near a heater, or in a cold car.

Not a medical device

Stro is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease, injury, or medical condition.

If you have a neck, back, shoulder, jaw, dental, bite, tongue, balance, neurological, skin, pain, pregnancy-related, dizziness-related, fainting-related, joint-related, muscle-related, or other relevant health condition, seek advice from a qualified health professional before using Stro.
