About the Founder

I'm Vanessa Vandy, a former Olympic pole vaulter, cinematographer, and the founder of Stro.

For most of my life, I've been fascinated by movement and coordination. Pole vaulting taught me to appreciate the remarkable complexity and physics of the human body, yet despite years of elite training, posture was something I struggled with from my teenage years, throughout my athletic career, and beyond.

Like many people, I spent countless hours hunched over computers - editing films, studying, and working. Over time, I became increasingly frustrated by how difficult it was to maintain good posture. Setting reminders, doing exercises and simply trying harder never seemed to work.

STRO emerged from years of trial and error at the intersection of those experiences: a lifelong fascination with movement, a personal struggle with posture, and a desire to create something that works in the background with the body rather than against it.
